Nagpur the ‘Orange City’ is also called as the ‘Tiger Capital or Tiger gateway of India’ as it connects six Tiger Reserves of India to the world. Nagpur is precisely located at the centre of the country with the Zero Mile Marker indicating the geographical centre of India. Nagpur is well connected with all parts of the country with road, rail and air.
During the British regime from 1900, the city was the capital of the central province comprising present-day Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Maharashtra. Post-independence it was annexed to the State of Maharashtra and was identified as the State’s second capital.

Deekshabhoomi located in Nagpur is regarded as a sacred place, a Prernabhoomi (inspiring land) of social revolution and the first pilgrimage centre of Ambedkarite Buddhism in India. Nagpur is also a Head Quarter of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Nagpur is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. It is a major commercial hub, home to some of the famous pharmaceutical rms like Baidyanath & Vicco, snacks manufacturer Haldiram, ice cream maker Dinshaw as the list goes on.


NAGPUR VETERINARY COLLEGE, NAGPUR

Nagpur Veterinary College (NVC), Nagpur was established on 1st July 1958, and it is a constituent college of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University(MAFSU), Nagpur. The college offers under-graduate teaching program (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) and postgraduate degree program (M.V.Sc.) in 18 disciplines and doctoral degree program in 12 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences.

MAHARASHTRA ANIMAL & FISHERY SCIENCES UNIVERSITY, NAGPUR

Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur has five Veterinary Colleges located at Nagpur, Mumbai, Shirwal, Parbhani, Udgir and one Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Akola. Apart from this two Dairy Technology Colleges are located at Pusad & Udgir and two Fishery Science Colleges are located at Nagpur & Udgir. Additionally, the Wildlife Research & Training Centre at Gorewada, Nagpur was established in 2015 to cater to the needs of wildlife health management and research. The University has 5 breeding farms across the state with the mandate to conserve local germplasm and also 3 Krishi Vigyan Kendraโ€™s at Nagpur, Sangli and Thane.
